1934 Bugatti Type 57 Cabriolet Stelvio (S/N 57180) (No longer owned)
Purchased for $300 in July 1956 from Michael Nash, an Associated Press Photographer who was based in Paris. We drove the car to London where we arranged shipping with US Lines to Philadelphia, which ended up costing $140. Delivered to Derham Body Company in Rosemont, Pennsylvania in order to get a restoration estimate. The estimate came back at $5,000. We decided not to restore it right then. We flew east on a Friday night to New York City, rode the train to Philadelphia and jumped in the car at 3PM, then drove it 1200 miles back to Minneapolis arriving back at midnight Sunday evening. We kept the car for 18 years and drove it 10,000 miles. Don drove Winston home when he was born from the hospital in October of 1956.
